Three Ways to Participate in Our Online Book Club

There are several ways to participate in our reading community, and you are welcome to choose whatever works best for you.

As our community grows and technology evolves, things may change. I’ll keep this information updated here as needed.

1. YouTube

You are always welcome to join the conversation in the public comments on YouTube.

Each month, the YouTube video featuring our book selections will also include the response questions that we’ll be discussing over on Substack. Feel free to use those questions as conversation starters in the YouTube comments, too.

We are a new and growing community, so I’ll respond to comments as time allows. My hope is that, as we grow, our YouTube community will begin supporting and encouraging one another as well.

Eventually, I would love to offer a paid YouTube membership as a deeper and more private way to participate. For now, we’re working toward reaching 500 subscribers so we can show YouTube that this community is active and serious about growing together.

2. Buy Me a Coffee

I realize that some people would like to support and participate in the community without committing to a monthly subscription.

Buy Me a Coffee is a simple way to do that.

You can make a small donation or become an as you go-supporter. There’s no monthly commitment — just a way to contribute if you’d like to help support what we’re building.

3. Substack

Substack is the primary home for our reading community.

Most of our content will be available to everyone. The exception is CHAT, which is available to paid subscribers.

Each response question will have its own dedicated post in the Chat, giving us a place to have deeper conversations about the books we’re reading.

As our community grows, the price of a Substack subscription may increase. One of the nice things about Substack is that, at this time, existing subscribers are grandfathered into their current subscription pricing. This is always subject to change, but for now, I think it’s a pretty cool option for those who want to join us early.

Our Substack Chat Community

I want our Substack Chat to feel a little like an online class — a place where everyone can share their thoughts, opinions, and feelings about what we’re reading in a kind, respectful environment.

Our basic guidelines are simple:

• Be kind.
• No politics.
• No judgment.
• Share your honest thoughts, opinions, and feelings about the readings.
• Respect that other readers may see things differently.
• Help create a positive, peaceful, and productive community.

We don’t all have to agree. In fact, some of the best conversations happen when we see a book differently. The goal is to learn from one another and grow together.

You can join us for one book a month or every book we read. Participate on YouTube, support the community through Buy Me a Coffee, join us on Substack, or mix and match.

There is no one “right” way to participate. Find the level that works for you, grab a book, and come read with us!
